The Tea Parties are coming, the Tea Parties are coming! For a second showing, the Tea Parties are coming to a neighborhood corner near you on the Fourth of July, 2009. If the first event was missed, then participation is highly suggested. So come one, come all and bring your red, white and blue tea cups to share with others, in the ever growing frustration that has taken most Americans by storm.

Is the storm brewing as a result of our twenty first century Tea Tax or is there a greater angst, a deeper discontent than just the enormous deficit that will be handed down to our great, great-grandchildren? I suggest that as with the colonists of the 1760’s, the taxation without representation was only a part of a greater injustice that was imprisoning the patriots who gave so much for us, their great, great, great-grandchildren. Would men fight and die because the tax man, in this case Britain, was assessing “unfair taxes”? The taxation they faced was only twenty percent of those being taxed in England, so where did the cry for independence gain in fervor?

The issue that shook the world then and I believe is beginning to shake our world today is not just about the exorbitant taxes that Obama and Company are laying on the backs of millions, but the shackles brought on by an enormous government and the freedoms that are being stripped away, daily in the name of change, in the name of progress. The colonists didn’t shed their blood because they were angry that England was asking for more money, in fact after the War of Independence, colonists were taxed twenty fold more than they had been under the crown. The blood of these patriots ran on the soils of Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill and Brandywine because their freedoms were being stripped away.

What freedoms have been confiscated from the hands of private citizens today and given to the oligarchy on the hill? To sum up: Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness have become endangered ideals under these ruling elite. Economic freedoms under government regulation, property rights, and the freedom to succeed and fail in business are just a few areas in which the government has overstepped the limits of its Constitutional powers as seen in the frantic vote of the Stimulus Bill. There is a strong arm push for mandatory government run health care. There is the deceit in the Obama plan for educational reform that strips parental rights to choose what is best for their children under the guise of the Convention on the Rights of Children, a treaty if ratified would supersede American law and sovereignty. The First Amendment is under attack through the Fairness Doctrine which was “rooted in the media world of 1949, when lawmakers became concerned that by virtue of their near-stranglehold on nationwide TV broadcasting, the three main television networks — NBC, ABC and CBS — could misuse their broadcast licenses to set a biased public agenda” this is being revisited by Pelosi and friends and yet we see Obama-mercials for his policies without the benefit of hearing from the other side of the discussion.

Fourth Amendment rights are under attack as Obama is using the oft-disproved contention that "90% of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States" as the stated basis of his support for the international treaty he is promoting. The treaty is formally known as the Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials (CIFTA) treaty.

The list of liberties at risk is lengthy and could not fit into a mere blog. Perhaps our greatest liberty, the right to worship God, as guaranteed under the First Amendment, is our most tragic loss. Any honest reader of history will recognize that many of the first settlers in America came for religious freedom and the cost that so many paid for such freedom was the utmost price, their very lives or the lives of their loved ones. Individuals die for those things which have intrinsic value and the right to worship God, unimpeded by the government, is one of those invaluable rights. Today we see this First Amendment right under attack as evidenced by the H.R. 1592 that is pending committee in the U.S. House. This is a bill that would “criminalize thought or emotion or even speech," said Glen Lavy of the Alliance Defense Fund. But I suggest that this attack began decades ago when the Supreme Court ruled in 1947 that it was unconstitutional for the government "to support any religious activities or institutions, whatever they may be called, or whatever form they may adopt to teach or practice religion."² in Everson v. Board of Education 330 US 31.

Tom West of the Claremont Institute wrote, “The victory of relativism has made the Founders' understanding of religious liberty alien to us. Liberty today is taken to mean "the right to choose," the right to do whatever one pleases.

Surprisingly, both liberals and conservatives agree on this definition. Their disagreement is over the extent to which government should impose limits on abuses of liberty. A sign of our shared view of liberty is that we often speak of balancing liberty with order, with responsibility, or with community. If we define liberty as the unlimited right of the irresponsible will, we do have to look to a source outside of liberty for some restraint on it. But if liberty is inherently responsible liberty, as the Founders thought, it does not need to be balanced by anything. It contains within itself its own balance.

For the Founders, the irresponsible, irrational will is not free. It is enslaved. James Madison said that "the tyranny of their own passions" led the Athenians to condemn Socrates to death. What Madison meant by this phrase was spelled out by the Reverend Samuel West of Massachusetts in a 1776 sermon: "The most perfect freedom consists in obeying the dictates of right reason, and submitting to natural law. When a man goes beyond or contrary to the law of nature and reason, he becomes the slave of base passions and vile lusts. . . . Hence we conclude that where licentiousness begins, liberty ends."⁴

The liberty and freedom that Americans once enjoyed, free from governmental legislation, came from the idea of personal, conscientious self rule that denied self in the best interest of society or in closer context the best interest of one’s neighbor. There was also the belief of God or a Deity that had defined standards of behavior that human kind should follow because it was best for the individual and society. Because many Americans have shunned the notion that there is absolute truth and therefore absolute law, and because the government operates on the same premise, they legislated on what is good for now, for the ruling class, to remain relevant to the voting population. But those who have remained steadfast in the knowledge that there is in fact absolute truth and who temper their lives through self control and self rule for the best of society, will not only make a distinct stand against the direction of this type of government, but will also perhaps lose their rights to speak out against this abuse of power by the very government they hope to rebuild.

Alexis de Tocqueville wrote in Democracy in America, “It must never be forgotten that religion gave birth to Anglo-American society. In the United States, religion is therefore mingled with all the habits of the nation and all the feeling of patriotism, whence it derives a peculiar force….Christianity has therefore retained a strong hold on the public mind in America…Christianity itself is an established and irresistible fact.”

For this reason men and women have paid the ultimate sacrifice, not because they were angry that taxes were too high, but because loss of liberty was too costly. Freedom and liberty come from God, and the Christian religion has been the tool that has shaped this country from the beginning. Calvin Coolidge stated, “If American democracy is to remain the greatest hope of humanity, it must continue abundantly in the faith of the Bible.”

So let the Tea Parties begin, but let them begin with the purpose of regaining the liberties that the Left has so easily taken from the American people. The fight is for the future, the fight must begin now, or the wars of the past, the signatures on the Declaration of Independence, the sacrifices of the Founders, the Colonists, the Military, the fathers and mothers, who for hundreds of years have given their utmost, will die in vain, as the America they founded dies on the threshold of the twenty-first century.

The inaugural address also made the call for sacrifice and some may have been inspired to do so, in the beginning, yet many of these inspired people are now murmuring and questioning their great savior.

What does Mr. Obama know about sacrifice? His inaccurate usage of the term is applied to all sectors of life as he demands the sacrifice of America's founding values on the alter of Obamanism. He collects his tithe from all who have worked hard to attain it. He accepts the "sacrifice" of those he deems must give on behalf of those who he deems should not. His sacrificial animal today is big business and capitalist values, while America waits in earnest fear as to what the "deity" might require next. He is the "greater importance" and the sacrificial giving he demands for "the greater good" lines up with the Stalins of the world and not the Washingtons or the Lincolns.

Sacrifice can not be forced on a person or a nation and when it is, it is no longer sacrifice, but martyrdom. It is tyranny over the governed. The idea that sacrifice can be demanded demonstrates that Obama doesn't understand at a personal level, what he has required. Sacrifice is a life choice based on a deeper understanding of a necessary good. America is a nation of sacrificial giving and this ideal was foundational in the lives of those who first stepped onto her shores. When the government becomes the entity that demands sacrifice, it is no longer the government of our founding fathers, but more reflective of a feudal system with a twenty-first century means to obtain the demanded sacrifice from its slaves.

Madison wrote in Memorial and Remonstrance, "The preservation of a free Government requires not merely, that the metes and bounds which separate each department of power be invariably maintained; but more especially that neither of them be suffered to overlap the great Barrier which defends the rights of the people. The rulers, who are guilty of such an encroachment, exceed the commission from which they derive their authority, and are Tyrants. The People who submit to it are governed by laws made neither by themselves nor by an authority derived from them, and are slaves."

We are today facing a Tyrannical Government that demand sacrifice from its slaves. They have crossed the bounds set by the Constitution and have quickly begun to implement ideals that are not a representation of those in America or its founding documents. Power is an intoxicating drug and the worship service to Obama continues in this mad orgy of spending, that rapes the American people today and enslaves the children of tomorrow. The tyrants must be stopped before the shackles are too firmly in place.

Trickle Up Poverty?

Obama has certainly made his position clear on the issue of taxing the rich. A modern day Robin Hood, he sees it as fair to redistribute wealth. You tax the rich as much as you can and give that to the poor and magic happens and we are all equal, socialism abounds and peace reigns. Right.

What I fail to grasp about the revival of socialism v.2.0 is why this dead philosophy keeps being resurrected. How can something fail repeatedly and still be considered viable? The poor don't get richer. The rich just get poorer as they are taxed more and more to sustain the burden of carrying numerous social programs that, in the end, don't elevate the poor. The poor continue to stagnate, dependent on the social programs that the government doles out. They are also dependent on the government and will continue to vote themselves more and more benefits, thinking that maybe more will be better, more will bring wealth. I believe we will reach the tipping point soon, when those who don't pay taxes outnumber those who do. When you have that majority, how do you convince people to give up the dole? How do conservatives ever get a foothold again when liberals are passing out all the goodies?

What can people do if things keep going down this path? When states raise taxes, the rich can call "Two Men and a Truck" and move on to greener pastures with lower taxes. If they can't outrun the taxes because it's the fed that comes a calling, they may just go Galt. After the election there were numerous articles interviewing people who intended to reduce their incomes in protest of unfair taxation. If you cant soak the rich, they'll have to move on to the middle class, which I think will open people's eyes as to the unsustainable nature of entitlements. How happy will people be to pay 50% of their income to receive less competent medical care? When cancer survival rates start to match those of Europe, will it be enough comfort to know that we are all receiving the same reduced care? When will we realize that equal isn't always an admirable goal, if equal means we all suffer.

Buyer Beware

President Obama said recently at a town-hall-style meeting in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, “We can’t keep on just borrowing from China. We have to pay interest on that debt, and that means we are mortgaging our children’s future with more and more debt.” He called the current deficit spending “unsustainable” and said that interest rates for consumers will go up if we continue to borrow from other countries.

Please excuse me while I bang my head against the wall!!! Is this not what we have been saying since January 20, 2009? Some of us have been saying it since the fall when the first financial rescue package was signed. This is what the Tea Parties on April 15th were about. More and more people are getting fed up with the spending in Washington and this Congress and Administration have been so good at it. Even John McCain, who I do not always agree with, called the current spending practices in Washington "generational theft".

It is being reported that the Obama administration has revised it's own estimates for the deficit this year to a record $1.84 trillion, which is up 5 percent from their February numbers and the 2010 deficit is being estimated at $1.26 trillion, up 7.4 percent from February.

Why is President Obama agreeing with us now? I guarantee it is not because he wants to stop spending. This is Obama paving the way for a tax increase and it will not be just for the "rich". As he said during his campaign when gas prices were skyrocketing, "High gas prices are just fine by me, I just wish we could have raised them more slowly." Will this be his model for tax increases?

Those of us who did not vote for him knew this was coming. So as the saying goes "Buyer beware". Or in this case, "Obama-buyer beware".

Toddlers for Congress: Would we notice a difference?

Last night we put our two-year-old to bed and I decided to update myself on current events. After a quick scan of our national news, a realization came to me. Our Congress (all of them, not just the libs) and many others in our government greatly resemble a room full of toddlers.

Think about it.

Toddler Trait: They lie to get out of trouble.

When a toddler can’t look you in the eye, don’t believe a word he’s saying. Nancy Pelosi doesn’t want to admit she knew about waterboarding. The winds have changed. It’s not politically correct anymore so she’s lying about what she knew and when. (This particular scenario is quite common in Washington. They expect us to trust them with what is now unlimited power and our grandchildren’s money, but they can’t remember where they were or who they talked to or if they knew anything about anything… ever).

Toddler Trait: They smile a lot and hope we don’t notice what they’re really doing.

When our daughter is up to something she shouldn’t be, she smiles and hugs us and tries to distract us from the fact that she’s shoved a toy into the toilet. Day after day our leaders hold press conferences on Capitol Hill. They grin wildly and shake hands and the president signs bills into law. Lots of hip, hip hooraying, yet when you get down to it, the smiles are there to cover up reality. Our lawmakers pass bills they do not read. They hobnob with lobbyists and accept donations to their campaign funds from the shadiest of the shady. They do not do what we sent them to Washington to do.

Toddler Trait: They’re expensive.

Toddlers go through clothes at a pace that boggles the mind. They’re picky eaters and they are sick many times each year. They’re expensive little boogers, but they’re also darn cute so they make up for it. Wish I could say the same about Congress members. Their pork spending gives us all the swine flu. We suffer because they can’t live within a budget. Pet projects trump common sense time and again. And it doesn’t matter, right? What they don’t have, they’ll just borrow, or we can always print more money.

Toddler Trait: Rules don’t apply to them.

Toddlers don’t want to share or eat their vegetables. Bedtime means nothing to them. Congress is the same way. They have a different set of rules to live by. Who else gets to vote every year for his/her own pay raise? Did any of Obama’s cabinet nominees actually pay their taxes? No wonder they don’t mind taxes. The rules don’t apply to them. They feast on a special Congress-only retirement plan while the rest of us make the Sign of the Cross over our Social Security checks and hope for the best. They work approximately 15 minutes a week and get to call themselves representatives of the American people. They don’t represent me, my beliefs, or my work ethic, I can tell you that.

Now that I think about it, there really are only two differences between toddlers and our government leaders. If something smells, you check a toddler’s pants. For Congress members, check their pocketbook. The other difference is that toddlers grow out of this stage.

Calling all extremists! Let's keep it up!

Nearly a month later people are still yapping about the tea parties. Big name liberals can’t stop calling us (by us, I mean radical extremists like myself who attended a tea party with my husband and 2-year-old) ignorant, racist, redneck, and backward. The tea parties have been ridiculed and belittled all over TV and the Internet. The mainstream media claims our little shindigs were ridiculous, promoted by the GOP, and a failure. Yet we definitely riled ‘em up, didn’t we?

Sure I’m irritated by the left-leaning (or toppling over) media’s version of how things went down on April 15, but I’m also flattered and inspired by it. We got their attention whether they want to admit it or not. We’ve upset them. I think maybe they thought we’d just roll over and let them tromp all over our Constitution without even a peep of protest. They assumed we couldn’t organize or unite behind a cause. The media has told the country for years that the conservative movement is dead. How can the dead rise up by the thousands and holler “taxed enough already"? But we did. And we were joined by Democrats with voter’s remorse and Libertarians and Independents alike. This tea party movement is not about right or left. It’s about Americans saying, “I don’t think so” to a group of politicians who aren’t told “no” often enough…or ever.

The hypocrisy of the left is so obvious; I don’t want to waste your time digging around in it. You and I both know that they spent the last eight years raging about President Bush. If we were Code Pink, they’d have been out in full force, lobbing softball questions and bringing us sandwiches and lemonade to quench our thirst and hunger.

Let’s do it again. Let’s shock their elitist socks off again! Show up for a tea party on July 4. March on Washington. Write your representatives. Send them a tea bag or 40. Join The 9-12 project.

And above all, in 2010, don’t you dare send these morons back to Washington, D.C. Let’s elect us some radical tea-partying patriots instead and change the course of this nation and get it back on track. That will really give the media something to talk about!

Rid yourself of income tax-induced headaches!

Even if we’re getting money back from the IRS, I dread tax season. It literally hurts my brain.

Now, first, I should mention that we’re beyond cheap. We do not hire someone to do our taxes for us. No, sir. We do them ourselves and by “we” I mean my husband does them and I bring him ice tea and rub his shoulders now and then. My job is to glean necessary documents from our filing cabinet and to duck at the appropriate times when he tosses things around in frustration. (Since becoming parents, my job also includes making sure our daughter is out of harm’s way, as well).

We don’t necessarily understand any of what we’re doing. We struggle along, make phone calls to my parents and mostly depend on a service like H&R Block online or Turbo Tax to guide us through the ridiculous ins and outs of the IRS masterpiece. Now and then we drop to our knees to ask God’s guidance but I swear I hear Him laughing at us.

I should just accept our fate and live with it. Taxes are here to stay. There’s no escape….or is there?

"I Am Unaware"

Perhaps this one little reply by President Obama when asked about the Tea Parties sums it up better than anything just how out of touch Washington DC is. "I was unaware." Oh really?

I surmise we are to believe that like we are supposed to believe the President of the United States did not submit himself (and his country he represents) by bowing to a Muslim leader. In that case, however, we saw it with our own eyes. In this case, Homeland Security issued a warning about "conservative radicals" in direct reference to the upcoming tea parties. I believe we, the people, can call the Presidents bluff again. Is he now saying, he is not aware of what homeland Security issues?

This is insulting to Americans and Americans are now becoming aware of the superficial spin. Talk about transparency. The veneer of this Administration and its intent to have us become little beggars is more transparent every day.

I attended two tea parties yesterday: 4/15/2009. They were in Mobile and Fairhope Alabama. Total people involved in these peaceful, non partisan gatherings were more than 1500, not counting the horns blowing in support of passing cars. Patriots all across America ranged from a few to 10,000 and more per gathering.

Veterans, who have seen the best and worst of America, were there by the hundreds and we heard their concerned and passionate voices. College students organized the Mobile Party. Children were there with their parents, realizing their very future to a pursuit in happiness and liberty was at stake. Octogenarians were there because they had "not seen anything like this in my life."

In attendance were Obama supporters who held up signs stating this was NOT the change they had hoped for. There was mingling in the crowds, a swell in our hearts as we introduced ourselves to each other, not as radicals and rebel rousers, but as Americans who want smaller government, a hope for the future and our Constitution back in one piece.

We collectively agreed the economic problems did not start with this Administration, but this Administration is driving a freight train through our Constitution and our rights, as well demonstrating extreme fiscal irresponsibility. There is nothing unpatriotic about Americans of all colors,cultures, party affiliations and backgrounds gathering to say, "NO MORE."

THAT is what the President needs to be aware of.

Today's Financial Scare Will Only Get Worse Under President Obama!

We are a nation of winners............remember that throughout this blog. Today's financial news was disturbing at best. Most of us are looking at our 401k or even our bank accounts and wondering how to proceed. The last thing that we need to do is panic, but it should be an eye opener at the very least.

We need to be more responsible as a country and we need to hold our leaders more accountable as well. The way the financials are currently going, our Country is going broke. We can no longer afford to continue spending without consideration of balancing a budget. Plainly speaking, at some point even your credit card debt is used up and you have no where else to go. You go bankrupt.

What does this mean this political season? It means that your vote needs to be used carefully. I know there are many people who blame George Bush, I am one of them. However, we as a Country cannot continue to look back. We must begin to look forward. At the beginning of the campaign, Barack Obama's economic policy called for an increase in taxes on the "rich". However, he has now said that he would not raise taxes if the Country was in a recession. Why? Doesn't that prove the point that tax increases do not help the economy? There is no way to jump start this country's economy by raising taxes and he realizes that. Would you raise taxes if the country just got out of a recession? It just doesn't make sense.

Our Country was not built to become a socialist nation. Government programs such as Social Security and Medicare were not meant to carry the nation. We are struggling to pay for them and at some point we may not be able to pay for them if things don't change. At this point in our history, we cannot afford additional programs. Both parties want all Americans to have health care, but we cannot make this a government program. The additional strain on our economy could and most likely would collapse it. We would no longer have the ability to pay for basic military protection. (Historical reference: Soviet Union).

We must cut irresponsible earmarks. However, at this point, it is not enough. We must look to shrink this government in order to save this government. Barack Obama wants to add billions of dollars in additional spending. He says that he will tax the "rich" to pay for it. It's not possible. Even if he raised the tax rate to 50% or more, he could not pay for the programs he is advocating without sending us into further debt and further weakening our dollar.

Bottom line: We cannot afford to keep bailing out big corporations even if it stings all of us for awhile. We must cut expenses. We must make our financial institutions stronger. If we become the tax and spend nation that Obama wants, we will become the next Lehman Brothers.............BANKRUPT!!

10 Questions Barack Obama Will Never Be Asked

It is apparent from the "We Love Obama" media that we will not have our questions answered about this man. There are people out there who actually would like to know about the candidate and not just his typical rhetoric of change.

Here are the ten questions, given the opportunity, that I would ask Senator Obama and why you may never find out the answers to them:

1. While in the Illinois Senate you voted "present" 130 times, why did you choose not to take a stand on such issues as gun-control, gay rights, and abortion?
   
2. How do you intend to pay for your proposed $660 billion dollars worth of additional spending without raising taxes on the middle class and small business owners?
3. Why would you write an article about what you are going to do in Iraq one week before actually visiting Iraq and meeting with top generals on the ground?
4. Are you shifting your positions to the middle to get independent votes while playing "wink-wink" with the ACLU and other leftist groups?
5. Why do you refuse to debate Senator McCain in a town-hall meeting?
6. Why do you support equal pay for women and then pay your female staff members on average $7000.00 less than their male counterparts?
7. Do you believe that 71% of the American people are wrong for wanting to drill here in the US?

I could have kept going, but the fact of the matter is that you will not hear very many negatives from the main-stream media. These are real question that need real answers. We cannot elect a President solely on the claim of "change".

Senator Obama took 200 reporters with him on his vacation to the Middle East and Europe. You would think one of them would ask him some real questions. Don't wait for the answers to come to you. If you don't know much about Barack Obama yet.................it's time to get smart.
