Single Issue Voters are Ignorant--or are they?

I hate to say this as I will surely be accused of being a troll, but the Republican party has become the political action wing for big corporations, right wing zealots, and deep pocketed fanatics. Fox News on the other hand is the media relations firm for these same groups.

The actions of this group [Smart Girl Politics] has thus far been nothing but insulting to conservatives, and their values. And when I say conservatives, I do NOT consider right wing zealots of Christianity (one topic voters are idiots), racists (how the hell did they get such a big voice in the party), and rich white men (who are either trying to make more money, or keep the money they have) conservatives.

As a liberal, as an American, and heck as a human being - the current incarnation of the Republican party both sickens and scares the crap out of me.

Please take it back.

The above is a comment I received in response to my posting of a letter to the RNC Chairman, Michael Steele. I was inspired to address the “single-issue voter” hatred in this country, by those who seem to have forgotten what it truly means to be one. Single-issue voters and politicians really have a bad wrap in this country. I should know, I’m one of those crazy, right-wing, Christian zealots who vehemently opposes abortion—above all other political issues. Sure I want our country to be financially stable. Of course I want us to have good foreign relations. I want our citizens to have access to good schools and great health care. But am I able to turn a blind eye when murder of one faction of our population has become widespread and accepted? I’d have to say an emphatic NO. Thank you for whatever terms you may have just labeled me; I’ll wear them proudly. I can no more idly sit by and bite my tongue as an unborn child is murdered than I could if I were passing someone on the street who was killing another person in front of me.

I am proud to say that I am in great company as a single-issue voter, though. Our country was founded by single-issue voters. Above, and forsaking all other issues, the Pilgrims came to this country to avoid religious persecution. They loathed it so much that they fled their homeland, in search of a more righteous place. Their mindset was such that they would, today, be lumped together with us “ignorant single-issue voters.”

Abraham Lincoln was another “single-issue voter.” His hot button was slavery. That darned slavery…if he had just sat back and minded his own business, this world would be a better place…we could all just live and let live…the government wouldn’t be able to come down on people who try to own other people. Wait a minute…Back up…that doesn’t make sense, does it? No, this nation would not have been better off if Lincoln had ignored the issue of slavery. Certainly he could have focused more on other issues and chose to just let those slave owners keep buying and selling HUMAN BEINGS, but thank God he didn’t. He knew that it was the right thing to do, his critics be damned. When we’re talking about an issue like slavery, it is easy to look back and realize that this was an entire population of humans who were being oppressed and brutalized, and it is blatantly clear that it was DEAD WRONG. It is a disgusting portion of our history. And you can thank a determined single-issue voter for closing that chapter. Maybe, as he predicted, you have forgotten Lincoln’s words at Gettysburg:



The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never
forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here
to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly

Maybe you’ll notice that Lincoln wasn’t only referring to the able-bodied people, or the rich people, or the white people, or the male people, or even the BORN people. There is a little clue in there glaring back at all of us that so many like to sweep under the rug. I’ll give you a hint, it is the fact that he was fighting for this nation, under GOD.

There is another very famous and beloved single-issue voter from our history. He would likely still be here with us if he weren’t so hell-bent on pushing for that single issue. This man was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His hot topic was civil liberties for everyone, namely African Americans. He was killed for holding the unpopular, at the time, view that black people were just that…PEOPLE. We can all look back and see how vile and ignorant so many of our countrymen were. They literally didn’t consider one segment of our population to be as human as they themselves were. They considered them “less than,” sub-human, if you will. Thank God that enough people stood up to say that they too were “single-issue voters” and that they were unapologetic in that stance. Our country is most definitely a better place because of their determined pressure on society. We are no longer “separate but equal,” now we are just “We the People.”

Now I am aware that so many have denigrated us “single-issue voters” and we make great fodder for the MSM’s evening news. But there was one country where there was not an overabundance of “single-issue voters.” You probably know it as Nazi Germany. Hitler campaigned on promises to make Germany be well respected by the world, to give them financial stability and power. Many people thought that he was crazy for his views regarding the Jews, but they kept quiet about that because: Hey, that man kept his other campaign promises. It was unfortunate that he was slaughtering an entire segment of their countrymen, but for the most part, as a whole, their country was thriving. Don’t you realize that when you tell a “single-issue voter” to be more “open” and to look at “all” of the issues equally to make decisions that you are asking them to be like the complacent German Christians? They didn’t agree with Hitler’s treatment of the Jews, they knew they were going missing, but because the rest of life was ok for them under his control, they remained silent. They weren’t directly kill anyone themselves, but their silence made them equally responsible for the Holocaust.

You see, Mr./Mrs. Anonymous Liberal, we cannot simply sit back and look the other way while babies are being slaughtered with no one to defend them. We owe them more than that. There are some issues that transcend the importance of all others. I do care about taxes and foreign policy, but if I find out that even the best and most fair politician, will not stand up for the lives of those most vulnerable in our population, then I cannot, and I will not support them. Pastor Martin Niemueller was arrested in Nazi Germany for preaching the Bible, and speaking against Hitler, consequently he was one of only a handful of German Christian leaders who did speak out. A Lutheran chaplain visited him in jail and asked him, “My brother, what did you do? Why are you here?” To which Niemueller replied, “My brother, given what is happening in our country, why aren’t you here?" It isn’t those of us who are “single-issue voters” who should be chastised and criticized. Instead, I think it is those who would dismiss such overwhelmingly important issues, in favor of other less meaningful things, who should be asking themselves why they are not standing up beside US.



And now, on to MY hot button issue, Abortion.

What have you heard said about it and in defense of it? A woman has a right to choose? It is a necessary evil? I would never have one, but I can’t tell another woman she can’t have an abortion? I don’t agree with abortion but it is not my place to judge what someone else does?

What happens if you are sitting in your house and you hear screams and violent thuds from the house next door? You run outside to see a young mother with a bloody knife in her hands and find out later that her six month old child was lying dead in the house in a pool of blood.

It’s not really your business, I suppose. I guess if we’re continuing with this façade of “political correctness” one could say, “I wouldn’t kill my child, but I don’t know what her life circumstances are, maybe she made the right choice for herself and her family.”

But let’s get real here. You’re anonymous on the internet; no one knows you’re reading this. You won’t give me a report on your thoughts when you’re finished. You can respond in your heart honestly. What would you think in this instance? And more importantly, what would you expect our government’s role to be? I know that not a single one of you would respond that you think the mother made a choice and it was her choice, and that the government should respect her choice. You aren’t about to tell me that while you wouldn’t stab your baby, you aren’t going to tell another mother she doesn’t have that right. I mean, after all, maybe she’s just overwhelmed with her finances and wants to go back to school? Maybe she’s got a terminal illness and it is just too hard on her body to keep caring for the baby? Maybe she is even mentally ill and did not have a clue that what she did was wrong. But you are still not going to tell me that you think the government should butt out and allow the woman the freedom to make that choice. It is not just a choice; it is the choice to commit murder. Someone who has an abortion is killing their baby. If you’re “pro-choice” you’re going to argue that if you don’t acknowledge that the baby is “living” in the womb, then there is no way to “kill” that child.



Merriam-Webster defines kill as: “to deprive one of life.” I would say that fits even for those of you who claim that an unborn child is not a living human, but the “potential” for life. Terminating a pregnancy deprives the baby of life, even the potential for it, if that’s your next flawed argument. It is only "just a choice" if you can remove yourself from the situation. If you can just hear the word abortion but block out any images of what an abortion actually is, what it looks like, what it sounds like, and what it truly accomplishes--death. It is not an unfortunate tragedy, that is just a pretty package to wrap it in. It's just you and me here, don't kid yourself.



I'm constantly reminded, by people like you, Mr./Mrs. Anonymous Liberal, that I am just a sheep who has been guided by someone else with an ulterior motive of money or power. I have to say to you, when no one is looking, when no one can hear, do you really think that an abortion is really "just a choice?" If you answered yes, I'm going to have to surmise that you are one of those who wildly protests if someone dares to attempt to show you a video or photos of a dismembered baby who has been aborted, I mean who's mother has made a choice. You try to spin it so that the person trying to open your eyes is somehow some zealot who is crazy and trying to save babies and everything.


Again, I ask you, "Why aren't you here?"

Letter to RNC Chair Michael Steele

Handwritten note and birth announcement from Sarah Palin

Dear Mr. Steele,

I just received your latest survey, which you called a crucial project, without the likes of which the RNC cannot create a plan. I must respectfully disagree. The RNC has a problem, and the ultimate result of that problem was seen this election cycle. Barack Obama, as much as I despise what he stands for, did not ask people what they wanted, and ask for their money at the same time, BEFORE promising to act on the peoples' desires. The RNC has got to change this. You speak of wanting to stand for every grassroots leader and individual who shares your values. Well if this is true, why does the RNC not reflect all of our shared values? Why is it that I am still reading about juvenile bickering in the headlines of even Fox News? Have you even thought of what a laughing stock the latest "disinviting of Sarah Palin" makes us look to any and every voter who may have been on the fence? Sure I've seen your apology over the Rush Limbaugh "is an entertainer" bit, but it rings hollow. It reeks of "political strategy." If you honestly felt that way, why apologize? And if you didn't feel that way, WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU SAY IT? Rush Limbaugh is not just an entertainer. He is an entertainer, for certain. But he, like Sarah Palin, has a specific set of goals, values, and ideals for America (if you don't remember them, they're the ones that our party stands for), and he does not apologize for them. He calls it like he sees it. Much in the same manner as Rep. Michelle Bachmann calling out Geithner and asking him to show her where he was Constitutionally given any of these newfound authorities he is claiming. There is nothing wrong with that. You should be embracing that. There is a place for "moderate Republicans." It is called Independent. You cannot have your cake and eat it too. If this party is still the Republican party and if our values are still worth having, shout them from the rooftops. Let no person question what you believe and what you will fight for. If we (the Republican party) don't even know who we are or what we stand for, I can assure you that no one is going to want to take a stand with us. Who jumps to a ship that they know is sinking? No one does, I'm afraid.

I have listened to your commentaries on Fox for quite some time before you became the Chairman, and at that point, I was all for you being the Chairman, or perhaps a candidate. But you seem to have abandoned your true values and ideals for the sake of "strategy." The only "strategy" that we need is to get back to our conservative (fiscal, moral, and size of government) values and ideals, and be steadfast in them. Then, and only then, should we DARE to ask for anyone's money in support of those values. We cannot contribute to the gossip in the headlines, our moral values tell us that we should be above that. And our critics know this, which is why they jump with glee every time they hear a rumble, because they know it will be so well received in the main stream media.

If you have not figured out why so many average, heretofore uninvolved or uninterested citizens have backed Sarah Palin, I will attempt to explain it to you. She is who she claims to be. Her record in the past, and of the present, reflects the conservative values that we hold dear. She does not apologize about those beliefs or voting records. She does not change her stance to go along with some newfound strategy. One can never win when pretending to be someone he/she is not. People WILL donate if they are hearing Sarah Palin speak as a voice for the RNC because they believe that she truly does support and would vote the way our values sway us. I have the utmost respect for Newt Gingrich. But "uninviting" a loved and admired speaker does NOTHING to help in our efforts, and is probably about as anti-strategy as you were able to be. Did you poll your constituents to see where we stood on the uninvitation? No, I know this because I didn't get an email about it. I read about it in an article in which the author couldn't wait to point out to America how ignorant our party has become.

I will share something with you that I shared with Sarah Palin a few days after the election. I voted, for the first time in my life, this past election. I am 32 years old, a mother of 4, and am very conservative. I live in Texas, and for the most part, it is felt here that we're a Red state, so I've always felt that my vote didn't matter that much. And to be honest, I've never been moved by a politician before because they always seemed to talk the talk when it was strategically prudent, and then act in another way that helped them best in the polls. You all seem to know on a basic level that you are our employees and were "hired" on our behalf, but at your cores, you all disregard that when it comes down to it. Sarah Palin was different. Representative Bachman seems to be different as well. She is speaking up, however unpopular it is, to highlight the lack of constitutionality of many of the President's initiatives. That could turn out to be political suicide. But what these 2 women seem to have grasped, that most of you have not, is that even if you don't win another election and it is some other Republican who takes your place, it is NOT ABOUT YOU. It is about what is best for our country. If you truly believe that Conservative values of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and the value of life are best for America, then wear that on your sleeve. If one or two or three people speak out against you for it, so be it. THAT is what being a leader is about. Even those few who don't like what you are saying will admire and respect you for staying true to who you are and what you claim you stand for. For the record, I sent a handwritten letter, 2 days after the election to Sarah Palin, detailing much of what I'm telling you now. What would you have done in response? Probably sent me a generic form letter thanking me for support, with my name merged in, and a scanned signature, so that you didn't have to take time out to actually sit down and care about me on a personal level, right? That's what most politicians do. Do you know what Sarah did? She, when no one was looking, the cameras were gone, I didn't matter on a global scale, sat down and handwrote me a note back. She wrote it on her son, Trig's, birth announcement, and mailed it back to me. It would have been easier, I'm sure, to have a staffer do a mail merge for the bags of fan mail she was getting, and I'm sure she does that sometimes. But please take an example from her. Get back to basics. Stand for our Constitution, and the values, as written, of the Republican party, and then just run with them. You have the ability to send out these mass emails asking for our thoughts. Well then REALLY LISTEN TO US, and act on what we say, even if you don't think it is strategically the best move. We are the ones voting, and whatever it is that we want IS the best strategic move because if we don't feel that you support our values, we not only aren't donating, but we're not wasting our time to get out and vote or convince others to.

Please don't turn me, and the many others out there who have found a love and passion for involvement with our government, off to the idea. Please don't put us back on the bandwagon that believes, "my vote doesn't count...they will tell me one thing and then act in another way to better their political standing." Please show me that you are still a person, and not just another part of the political machine. I've attached a scanned copy of the note that Sarah Palin wrote me, front and back. I'm only sending it, hoping that you will look at it, and see what such a small gesture, can mean to someone, and how actually caring about how we feel can make us supporters for life--and you have to know that with that support comes our pocketbooks. Please don't be so naiive and do the RNC such a disservice as to ask for our money BEFORE you have adopted and acted on our values and ideals. Show us that we can depend on you not to change with the Washington winds, and the money and support will come. Myself and many others, will be your grassroots movement at the most basic level, but you have to stand for what we believe in. That simplistic idea is exactly how a man as extreme as Barack Obama landed himself in the Whitehouse so easily. He promised to do what his constituents wanted, the whole way through the campaign. He may be changing his tune now on some issues, but when he needed the support, he got it by reflecting the Democratic values. He wasn't telling them his values were the only ones and that people could vote for him or no one. This is the feeling that many of us get from the RNC at the present time. I'm frankly shopping around looking for another party. I can't consider myself Libertarian because of their stance on Abortion. I truly feel that THIS--the Republican Party--is where I belong, but please get back to what the party has always claimed to stand for, no apologies, no excuses.

Conservative Women Should Support Caroline Kennedy for the Senate.

One of the reasons that I started Smart Girl Politics was the treatment that Sarah Palin received during her run for Vice-President. Many conservative women felt that women's groups and feminist organizations no longer represented all women.

Organizations like N.O.W. made it more than clear to those women on the right that they would no longer pretend to tolerate their beliefs. Conservative Women were abandoned and left to fight their own battles.

Now Conservative Women's organizations are springing up all over the internet to finally take a stand for women's issues. I am proud to have Smart Girl Politics, SGP, as one of the sites that is taking that stand. What I am not proud of, however, is my initial response to Caroline Kennedy's decision to fight for the Senate seat in New York.

There are many arguments being made on both sides of the aisle as to why she is not "qualified" to run for office. Sound familiar? Most of the arguments that were made against Sarah Palin are now being made against Caroline Kennedy.

Since when does staying at home to raise your children, volunteering your time with charitable organizations, and surrounding yourself with politics qualify as negatives on a political resume. Yes, she has the Kennedy name, but that should be an asset to her qualifications not a deterrent. It seems to me that she has many of the qualifications that Hillary Clinton had when she ran for that office.

Have our career politicians really served either party well in the last several years?  We continue to say that we need to bring talent from outside of Washington.  I suppose it sounds better to most on paper than in reality.

I do not believe in anything that Caroline Kennedy stands for in politics. However, the fact of the matter is that a Democrat is going to be appointed to the position. Why shouldn't that person be Caroline Kennedy?

If Conservative women are going to speak out against sexist treatment of women on the right, it is in our best interests not to be hypocrites and to speak out for those on the left as well. Therefore, for as much as Caroline Kennedy can get my vote, she has it.

You Know It's Time For Election Season To Be Over When.....

Today, my 4-year old's principal told me that he had them in stitches laughing today.  Now, if you knew my little boy, you would know that there were probably a million different stories that she could have told me.  If this story doesn't tell you that it's time for the election season to be over......

The principle told me that my little boy had informed the staff and his fellow classmates that he had a new girlfriend.  He told them that his new girlfriend was none other than............Governor Palin.  Not Sarah Palin, but Governor Palin.  He went on to tell them what a nice person she is and that he thought she was pretty.

In my defense, I had met the Governor at a rally right after she was announced and have pictures of her on my camera.  He is able to identify Governor Palin and John McCain on TV which I guess is more than we can say about some of the Obama supporters............just kidding.

Stop The Hate....Remember The Worst Times In America Are Better Than The Best Times Elsewhere!

My roots come from vastly different parts of American history. My maternal great-grandmother was an Italian immigrant whose name is proudly inscribed into Ellis Island. My maternal grandfather was also an Italian immigrant who came to this country and built his life as a brick layer.

My paternal great grandmother was a Seminole American Indian, a native of this country. My paternal blood line leads back to the likes of General Robert E. Lee and Light Horse Harry who was asked by Congress to address the death of President George Washington.

Many of us have amazing stories to how our family ended up in this country....yet history was not as kind to others. The fact of the matter is that I am not a Native American. I am not an Italian American. I am simply an American, a mom, a wife, a daughter, and a sister.

It seems that with each passing election those things that unite Americans, that quality that makes other world citizens envious of our station in life is being torn down internally. I have tried to make this blog a place for honest debate, where people regardless of positions can state their points of view. I have stated very clearly that you visit this blog knowing that it tilts to the right. I am a conservative and I make no apologies for my beliefs.

Unfortunately, this blog, that has become such a passion of mine the last three months, has been turned into something that I no longer can support. So I made the decision to address the issue one time and then turn my blog back into exactly what it was meant to be.......a place for respectful discussions.

There is anger in this country from both sides. With the current state of our economy it is not surprising that people are mad. I would be surprised if you told me that you weren't angry. Yet, it seems that the anger is currently being spent in the wrong direction. We, the voters regardless of who we voted for, did not create this mess. Our anger should not be directed at each other. We need to look at our leaders for that blame.

In the last few days, the media has made McCain/Palin rallies into racist mobs. Have there been people who have shouted despicable things? Yes. Is that representative of the majority of those attending the rallies or who are supporters of John McCain? NO. I can tell you for a fact that there are horrible things shouted from Obama protesters outside of these events and that it was happening before the McCain campaign turned negative. I have personally seen things written about Sarah Palin that I wouldn't call my worst enemy.

We can go back and forth about who is spewing more hate. Both sides have haters. Our society has haters. Does that mean everyone in our society hates? No. I personally have been to one of those rallies. The majority of those attending are respectful, courteous, and are excited to be part of the scene. They shout USA, USA, USA.

People are fearful in trying times. Democrats fear that John McCain will be the next George Bush while Republicans fear that Barack Obama will send us on a fast track to socialism. Fear is a normal part of life, but if it is leading you to spew hate or wish harm to others or simply leads you to a lack of respect for your neighbors, then it is time to step back. Remember that even the worst time in America is better than some of the best times in North Korea, or Pakistan, or Somalia.

I forgot that for a little while, but now that I have remembered I hope it will help a few others to think about it as well.

"That One".......Is This A Racial Issue? Come On Already!

I have never wanted to write about the race baiting going on in this race. I am one who believes that the Republicans have done a horrible job at convincing this voting block that they are voting for the wrong party. Race should not be an issue in this race, but the Democrats continue to make it one.

Before I start getting attacked by the left, let me explain and I will be happy to debate it. Yesterday, the AP claimed that Sarah Palin going after Barack Obama on William Ayers has a racial tinge to her comments. I do not understand how questioning Obama on a white terrorist is racist.

Second, today, two Black Congressman came out against Palin stating that she is being racist on her stump speech. According to the New York Observer:


As the McCain campaign ratchets up the intensity of its attacks on Barack Obama, some black elected officials are calling the tactics desperate, unseemly and racist.

“They are trying to throw out these codes,” said Representative Gregory Meeks, a Democrat from New York.

“He’s ‘not one of us?’” Mr. Meeks said, referring to a comment Sarah Palin made at a campaign rally on Oct. 6 in Florida. “That’s racial. That’s fear. They know they can’t win on the issues, so the last resort they have is race and fear.”

“Racism is alive and well in this country, and McCain and Palin are trying to appeal to that and it’s unfortunate,” said Representative Ed Towns, also from New York.


There are many Americans that have issues with Barack Obama's associations. Does that make all of them racists? Why is the response to the questioning of Obama on almost any issue that you are racist?

Tonight, during the debate, John McCain referred to Barack Obama as "That One". I can't tell you how many comments I have seen that refer to this as racist. Courtesy of ABCnews.com:

McCain's "that one" reference came when the Arizona senator was contrasting his opposition to the 2005 Bush energy bill which was, in McCain's words, "loaded down with goodies, billions for the oil companies," with Obama's support for the measure.

"You know who voted for it? You might never know. That one," said McCain, gesticulating towards Obama. "You know who voted against it? Me."


Most people probably would not have even noticed the exchange had the Obama camp not emailed every reporter under the sun and suggested that it was the issue of the night. For a campaign that keeps saying it wants to talk about the issues, this seems ridiculous.

I am open to discussion on this issue.

Update: I forgot to mention the ways in which Congressman Barney Frank is now trying to weasel his way out of the housing fiasco. He now blames the GOP for being racist for being against Fannie and Freddie. This man is head deep in this crisis and this is his response to critism. I am not amused and it's getting idiotic.

Obama Still Afraid of Women, And Now He Is Hiding Behind Them!

On August 25 (prior to Palin's announcement), I wrote a blog titled, "Why Is Barack Obama So Afraid of Women?" It is even more apparent after the announcement of Governor Palin that he is afraid to compete with women.

From almost the beginning of his campaign, John McCain has had women in the forefront. With the exception of Tucker Bounds, God love him, most of McCain's spokespeople are women. Most of the people campaigning for John McCain have been women. (Carly Fiorini and Meg Whitman to name two). It is rare on TV over the last several months to see a woman spokesperson on TV for Senator Obama. I'm not saying there aren't any, they just haven't played prominent roles.

Don't think Sarah Palin was a complete shock to the Obama campaign either. In the same blog mentioned above I spoke of how Obama supporter, Hollis French, was the one leading the "troopergate investigation" of Governor Palin. I will give some more information on that story later. On August 4th, someone from the DNC checked out the Palin for VP blog as well. Check out the proof here.

When Senator Obama passed on Hillary Clinton, he did not believe that Senator McCain would have the courage to pick a woman. Ask any Clinton supporter and they will tell you that there was little effort made to bring their groups into the forefront. Unfortunately for Obama, nothing that they have tried to bring down Governor Palin has worked, so he has decided to bring out the big guns to fight his battle.....women.

On Monday, the Obama Campaign is sending Hillary Clinton to Florida to try to move women to his side of the aisle. Obama supporters have claimed that Senator McCain is using Governor Palin for political gain. Wow...then what does that say about Obama? I'm sorry I didn't chose you, Senator Clinton, but could you please go out and save my behind now? I understand that Hillary has to do what she has to do in order to continue her political ambitions. I don't blame her, but wouldn't it be great to see her tell him to go (sorry trying to think of a polite word) himself. In addition to Clinton, he will be reving up his involvement with Governor Napolitano of Arizona and Governor Sebelius of Kansas.

He has now learned the answer to the question I have been asking of him.....yes Senator Obama you do need women to win this election. Does anyone want to take bets on when he FINALLY offers to pay off Hillary's debt now that he desperately needs her?

Palin & Clinton Have Made Us Proud!

As someone who has been a supporter of Sarah Palin for a long time, I could not be more proud of my pick. Last night's speech proved that those of us who participated in the Draft Sarah Palin for VP movement, were justified in our efforts.

Whether you are a man or a woman, a Democrat or a Republican, you have to give her credit. She is the first female VP candidate on the Republican ticket. She was dragged through the mud, spit upon, and given the lowest of expectations. As I wrote in my blog this past weekend, she is not one to be underestimated. She proved that herself last night.

As a woman, it has been an exciting year. First Hillary Clinton ran for President as a Democrat. Although, I did not support her, I have said many times how much I respected her. Last night, I watched history. Although my little girl is too young to realize what happened, I am more than proud to tell her that two women this year paved the way for her to achieve an even larger piece of the pie.

My daughter will know that she has the right no matter what mistakes she may make in her life to stand tall and proud of who she is.......whomever that may be. Many have criticized Sarah Palin this week for her parental skills. I couldn't disagree with them more. By having her daughter and the rest of her family on stage with her last night, she showed that even if you are not perfect, you are loved and you should be proud. What message would it have sent to her daughter had she hid her away somewhere?

I know that I will post more after tonight's speech, but I just wanted to take a moment to reflect, not as a partisan, but as a proud woman.

Palin vs. Obama? Did I Miss Something?

I quit watching politics for a few hours and apparently I missed the big announcement. When did Barack Obama start running against Sarah Palin? Did she move into the head of the ticket or did he replace Joe Biden at the bottom of his?

Don't get me wrong, I will take that debate. It just occurs to me that the Democrats believe they are running against Sarah Palin. Do they believe that she will be easier to beat? I don't think so.

The top two issues that Americans say are affecting their lives and channeling their votes this year are energy and the economy. I would say foreign affairs would be somewhere near the top of this list as well.

On the issue of energy, Palin is an expert. She has faced the oil companies and won. Democrats would have you believe that she has big ties to big oil. It simply isn't true. She is for drilling in ANWR along with the majority of the Alaskan people. She recently set fair taxes on the oil companies. She passed a $40 billion gas pipeline that will not only bring jobs to Alaska, but will bring additional revenue. This does not just affect Alaska. This pipeline when completed will bring additional resources to the lower 48 states. Without a doubt, Palin wins the argument of experience in this area. Obama has not introduced a single energy policy during his tenure in the Senate. (Does his gas gauge idea count as policy?)

On the issue of the economy, some may say that Palin has been a Governor of a state with the population less than that of Obama's district. So. Alaska has the 5th largest economy in the United States. The State of Alaska has the lowest taxes in the US. She has over 8,500 government employees. On CNN's AC360 Monday night, Barack Obama compared his "executive" experience, running his campaign, as follows:
“My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees.We've got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month,” Obama responded.

There are several issues wrong with his statement. First, Senator Obama, she is no longer the Mayor of Wassilla. You may want to forget that she is currently a Governor, but we will not. Second, running for President does not qualify you to be President. Running a campaign is not nearly equivalent to running a state, regardless of how big it is. The budget of Alaska is over $6 billion dollars. I believe that is more than three times your campaign budget.

As for foreign policy experience that we keep hearing about, Obama has none. He picked his VP to fill that gap in his resume. No one questions that fact. Sarah Palin doesn't need any either as she is the VP candidate. She can rely on the top of her ticket for the foreign policy experience. No, I am not saying that she doesn't have any, I am saying that if you want to compare tickets, she doesn't need any.

As I have said, don't be too quick to dismiss this ticket. They are a lot tougher than their opponents would let on. Do you think they would be attacked like they are if they weren't a strong ticket?

Why Do The Democrats Hate So Much?..........Republicans Are Feeling The Love!

I guess that I should not be surprised these days that people can be mean. It was amazing to me to see some of the hatred coming across the blogs about John McCain's pick of Governor Sarah Palin. The hate from the left doesn't stop with her though. Apparently, they are enjoying millions of people being displaced from their homes.

I won't repeat the rumor mill and the disparaging remarks across the web about Sarah Palin. They are despicable. It should not surprise any of us that when you have no actual arguments, you resort to name-calling. Some have asked what type of mother is she for running for Vice-President. Regardless of your party affiliation, this should feel like a slap in the face to most women. Has Barack Obama been asked what type of father he is for campaigning and leaving his children? I doubt the thought has ever crossed any one's mind to ask.


I won't touch the slander that is being made of Sarah Palin. What I will touch is the reprehensible remarks of those on the left about the approaching Hurricane, Gustav. Does it surprise you that documentary film maker, Michael Moore laughed while saying, "I was just thinking, this Gustav is proof that there is a God in heaven. To have it planned at the same time – that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for day one of the Republican Convention, up in the Twin Cities – at the top of the Mississippi River.”

The hate doesn't end there. Former National Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Don Fowler, and Congressman John Spratt of South Carolina were taped on a flight returning from the Democratic National Convention making fun of Governor Palin and laughing about the Hurricane. Fowler said that God was on the side of the Democrats. See the video below:



Why is it that some Democrats only find God when they are using it against Republicans and conservatives?


On the other side of the aisle, the Republicans are having a lovefest and guess what? We have asked some Democrats, Independents, and of course women to join the party. The right is excited and they are putting their money where their mouth is. Since Governor Palin's announcement, the McCain campaign received almost 7 million dollars in online donations.

John McCain has seen a growing number of supporters at his rally events. Saturday in Washington, PA brought over 10,000 while Sunday's event in Missouri had over 17,000 supporters. Don't underestimate this excitement. The word about Palin is growing and she has generated more interest in an election year that could have been one-sided. Yes, it's a lovefest on the right and never-ending hate on the left.

Crowd Shouts, "SARAH, SARAH".....Did I Mention I Got To Meet Her Too!

Today I attended a rally for John McCain and Sarah Palin in Washington, PA.  If this crowd and the size of it are any indication of the energy she has brought to this campaign, then it will be a win in November for them.

I was standing in front of the stage on a local minor league field.  It was a sold out crowd.  Local campaign managers said that they had run out of tickets after Palin was announced yesterday.  People didn't care if they had a ticket or not.....they just showed up.  The local officials estimated that the crowd was well over 10,000.

As Sarah Palin took to the stage, the crowd began to shout "Sarah, Sarah". They chanted her name even through Tom Ridge introducing them.  At the end of the rally, I was lucky enough to get to shake hands and meet someone who I have been talking about for the last few months, yes, Sarah Palin herself. Don't Be Too Quick To Dismiss Palin......She is More Than A Woman!

For those of you who haven't been part of the Palin for VP movement for the last several months, welcome to the game.

Like most people today, I had never heard of Sarah Palin until about six months ago. I stumbled onto the now hit website, palinforvp.blogspot.com. After reading Adam Brinkley's blog, I did some more research of my own. She is impressive. She got me excited about politics and was the reason I started my own blog.

A few days ago, I posted a blog, "Why Is Obama So Afraid of Women?". From the reaction today, my blog post was dead on. The first reaction of not only the Obama campaign, but every single Democrat that could get media attention, was atrocious. Obama's spokesman, Bill Burton, had the following to say before she even made an appearance on the stage, "Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the Presidency."

Really sir, you want to talk about experience? Sarah Palin has taken on tougher challengers than Barack Obama and Joe Biden combined. Look on youtube.com for her debates during her Gubernatorial campaign. She is tough as nails and put those boys in their place more than a few times. She took on corruption in Alaska in her own party and believe me they have come after her for it. While Senator Obama has been out on the campaign trail for the last 18 months talking the talk, she has been in Alaska walking the walk.

Sarah Palin has passed more important bills in the last month than Senator Obama has in his entire life. She went to Iraq to visit our troops before Senator Obama did and she didn't take a media crew with her. She doesn't take positions or make a stand based on anything other than her ideals and morals.

Before you write her off as an inexperienced woman as the Obama campaign would want you to believe, do a little research, watch the debate with Joe Biden, and most of all, keep an open mind. You will be impressed. I didn't stay up most of the night last night following flights from Alaska over at Adam's website for nothing.

Senator Obama: Sarah Palin is more than a woman..................and by the way....you have every reason to be afraid!!!!!!!!

Why is Barack Obama So Afraid of Women?


Apparently the Obama campaign does not want a woman on either the Democratic or Republican Presidential tickets. Why is he so afraid of women in top political positions? If you think that Hillary Clinton is the only woman that the Obama campaign has gone after this year, think again.

A few months ago, Senator McCain was thought to be considering a woman for the VP position on his ticket. Not just any woman, but Alaskan Governor, Sarah Palin. For those who haven't heard of Sarah Palin, you could say that she is the "maverick" of the Alaskan political game. She is a true reformer who took on corruption in her own party. She was making the media rounds and her name was getting alot of play in political circles.

The Obama campaign apparently did not want to be forced to put Hillary Clinton on the ticket so his minions set out to attack Sarah Palin. How? Obama's operatives in Alaska led by State Senator Hollis French have brought a frivolous investigation against Sarah Palin in order to derail her chances of becoming VP. Unfortunately for them, it appears to be blowing up in their face and Governor Palin may very well still be in the running for the Republican ticket.

Why is Barack Obama so afraid to run with or against women? One last thought....have you ever noticed how many of John McCain's spokespeople on the media rounds are women? Have you noticed how many top business women have lined up to support John McCain? How many prominent women can you name in the Obama campaign?

Barack Obama, when will you learn that you will never win this election without the support of ..........duh, women!!!!!

How McCain's VP Pick Could Redefine His Campaign?

Conservatives are slowly coming around to supporting John McCain for President. Yes, it has been a long road getting here and there have been roadblocks thrown up along the way. Yet the one thing that is missing is the enthusiasm for the candidate. Most votes from Conservatives are more a vote against Barack Obama rather than a vote for John McCain. Yes, I am saying that as a Conservative myself.

What will it take to excite this base? An olive branch to say the least. There have been baby steps along the way as we knew there would be, but what about one giant step? Here it is..................John McCain picks Governor Sarah Palin for Vice-President of the United States. Most people who don't normally follow politics too closely are probably saying who right about now. I said the same thing a few months ago.

First, some background. Sarah Palin, 44, was elected Governor of Alaska in November 2006. She has been a fighter of corruption in Alaska since her early political days. Alaska is probably second only to Louisiana for corruption in politics. She is a true reformer in every sense of the word. She is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-marriage, and a fiscal conservative. She has been to Iraq, unlike Barack Obama, and has a son who enlisted in the army on September 11, 2007. She has the highest approval rating in the country which is more than we can say about Congress.  She would definitely be the branch that Conservatives are looking for.

But hold that thought. Even conservatives know that it will take more than us to elect John McCain. Here's where Sarah Palin would be a better choice than someone like a Mike Huckabee. She is from Alaska. She has experience dealing with the oil and gas companies. She is currently in the process of pushing forward a new gas line lease that would move gas from the Northern Slope to the lower 48. (Apparently that's what they call the rest of us up there). She is for drilling in ANWR and could yank on John McCain's ear until he was persuaded to change his position. She could speak to McCain's energy policy with authority. It would be difficult to challenge her knowledge on the subject. She could be a voice to the number one topic America is dealing with now.

Finally, she could attract another block of voters. WOMEN. There are still millions of angry Hillary Clinton supporters out there who would love one more excuse to vote against Barack Obama and here it is. The democrats have frustrated many women with their tactics from the primary season and this is our chance to show them that the Republican party is an inclusive party. Yes, there are issues that we will disagree on, but no party is perfect.

She would bring the energy, enthusiasm, and most likely the money to a campaign that at this point could use a shot in the arm.  The buzz is already spinning out there about her and it only grows as she makes the media rounds in support of drilling in ANWR.

As a young female conservative, I would like to see the next generation of our party brought to the forefront. It might surprise most people to see exactly how diverse we are. The first step is for the party of the good 'ole boys to put forth their brightest and strongest candidate.....and well, if she happens to be a woman more power to us.
