What Do You Think About The New Look?

S.P.G. or Smart Girl Politics is under construction. For all of those who have been with me from the beginning, please share your thoughts and suggestions about the new look of the blog. You read my blog so your opinion matters.

I will be back with my regular posts this weekend. Thank you for a great four months.

OK, I will be honest. I like the looks of the graphic. But does it fit with your theme? When I hear "grass roots", I think of um, grass and farmland and talking to down-to-earth small town people (like Sarah Palin). The graphic is very urban looking.

As far as text goes, I am a big fan of dark on light contrasts. But then my optometrist keeps suggesting bifocals, that might have something to do with it.

Just my $0.02.

I do give you credit for putting a lot of effort into the look. my blog is a basic template...can you say 'boring'?

Thanks RT. I am torn on the new look too. I wanted it to be unique, stylish, something to catch people's attention. I definitely don't want people thinking farms though...lol

Sorry Stacy, but I find the text hard to read with the contrast, not to mention that it is smaller and I would have to wear sun glasses with bifocals.

I've always thought it was the content and not the presentation. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I like the new look. It looks great.

I like it! I think it is unique which is great for "branding" what you are doing. My only suggestion would be to make the post texts a little bit larger if possible.

Ok...I am not as technically savy as it may appear. At most, I can try to increase the white writing size. Otherwise it's an all or nothing kind of deal.

I like the edgy look to it, but am in agreement that the white text is hard to read. Might need to tweak the color scheme a bit.

I like it; maybe splice a rural/farm landscape with the urban one. After all, the conservatives are not only in the ci-tay. :D

I wish I could share my biz blog here; but I live in a highly liberal area and am a closet conservative. Irks me to no end, but it would hurt my business if people round my parts knew...how tolerant and open-minded of them, eh?

Ok...so if the white text was larger would you like it better or should I go to something more simplistic?

The stark contrast between the white text & the black background is a bit overwhelming and hard to focus on the content of the article. The bright pink landscape would be statement enough without the black background behind the white text.

You know, the gray on the left side text seems a bit easier to read than the white (less contrast?) Maybe that would help cure the concern about the white on black. And yes, I was referring only to the size of the white writing.

You can't please everyone though, so go with what you like.

Hey Stacy - I have to be honest, I don't love the new look. You were talking about branding, I picture something totally different. I get where you are going with the whole blacka nd pink thing, but for me it's too distracting and hard to read. Sorry. Content is great as always though.

Ugh, don't go to the site I posted. There is a rather offensive picture of Palin that he just posted. Figures....

Sorry about that folks.

Ok...you win. New look on it's way. You will have to suffer through this one for a few days. I can't do these things overnight. ha ha ha I promise the next one will be just as cool, but easier to read.

Thank you Stacy!

Could I ask a big favor of you please? I posted a link a couple of posts up and as luck would have it, he posted a rather vile picture.

Could you delete that post for me pretty please?! I do not want to promote that kind of stuff, and apologize for the error.

Warmest Regards,

Ok. this is a temporary fix, but is it a little better?

The home page looks just fine, and the black print on white background is much easier to read (at least for me). As someone mentioned earlier, it's the content that counts; at least that's what drew me here in the first place.
