The Obama Hypnosis Effect

I think at some point during the primary season, Obama held a closed door meeting with those in the mainstream media and said this, "Look deep into my eyes. You are starting to feel very sleepy. I will count to ten and when I reach ten, you will come out of your deep sleep and believe the following until I clap my hands: Barack Obama is great, He will save this country, he will lower the sea levels, all his ideas are great, you will champion his policies even if they are at the demise of the United States of America, you will campaign, uh, I mean write glowing articles about him and how smart he is, you will not question anything he does or do any real reporting. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, wait, also, you must know that he is above everyone else and is God-like, ten. Thank you all for coming to this press conference and I hope that I answered all of your questions."

Apparently, Obama has not clapped his hands yet. This is the only explanation for Evan Thomas, editor of Newsweek saying the following, "Well, we were the good guys in 1984, it felt that way. It hasn't felt that way in recent years. So Obama's had, really, a different task. We're seen too often as the bad guys. And he, he has a very different job from ... Reagan was all about America, and you talked about it. Obama is - we are above that now. We're not just parochial, we're not just chauvinistic, we're not just provincial. We stand for something, I mean in a way Obama's standing above the country, above above the world, he's sort of God."

Mr. Thomas went on "He's going to bring all different sides together...Obama is trying to sort of tamper everything down. He doesn't even use the word terror. He uses extremism. He's all about let us reason together...He's the teacher. He is going to say, ‘now, children, stop fighting and quarreling with each other.’ And he has a kind of a moral authority that he – he can – he can do that."

And to reinforce this idea even more, he said this, "We're understanding what Obama is. He is the great teacher. He is this guy that stands above everybody. There's some condescension in it. But, he stands above everybody and says, 'Now, listen. You people have to stop blaming each other unreasonably. You have to get along here and I am going to show you the way.' It is a pretty brave role in many ways. "

Those in the mainstream media with the "thrills running up their leg" over Obama and starry-eyed reporting of him, they can't really believe what they are saying, can they? Do they realize how they look and sound to the American people with their reporting on this Administration, it's policies and the current party controlling Congress? I am convinced that at some point, they were hypnotized and will continue to be until their fearless leader claps his hands and they snap out of it. This is has to be the explanation for anyone believing that Obama is God-like, that it is okay for him to have condescension and think he is above everyone, and that as President of the United States, he is above being about America.

Wait a minute, there are many not in the media who think the same way. He must have somehow used hypnosis on the citizens of the United States and maybe the only thing to save you from having your mind taken over by the smoothness and ill-truths of Barack Obama was and is the shield of knowing the Constitution of the United States, the history of this nation, the true nature of the enemies we face and the promise of freedom and greatness that this country stands for. Yes, that must be it.

If Our Country Removes God, Do We Lose Our Country?

We have all heard those stories from our grandparents about how much they used to pay for this or that.  The favorite stories are the ones when they would talk about how far they used to walk to get here or there.  I look at those stories now with such envy.  Of course, when your a seven year old and your mom is making you listen to some old person tell you something, you could care less.

As we start to age ourselves, it's strange how often you begin to look back on your own past. How far you go back depends on how far to your favorite memories.  Do you go back to your childhood and playing outside with your friends?  Do you go back to the times you spent the holidays with your family and those traditions you remember so well?  Do you go onto Facebook and look for friends from high school or college?

It seems like if you are at that point in your life that you can look back to something that you are old enough to realize how much things have really changed.  When did our society lose it's innocence?  It would be frightening to do some of the things today that we did back then.

Could you imagine leaving your doors unlocked and your windows wide open?  What would happen if you let your children play around the neighborhood the entire day only to come home for dinner?  Would you let your pre-teen go to the mall and hang out with friends alone?  

I look back on my childhood and I don't remember terrorism.  It may have been happening, but it wasn't something that as a child you were aware.  I know that was not the case during the cold war, but I'm not quite that old.  Today, children are too aware of what is going on in the world.  They are bombarded with bad news via television, the Internet, or even from friends at school.

When I went outside to play with my friends, my mom didn't have to worry that a pedophile was going to abduct me.  I know that the media plays up a lot of these issues, but they are happening.  The fears are real, not imagined.

What has changed in our country that has brought us to the point of greed, promiscuity, hate, and a complete lack of respect of others?  It could be just a coincidence, but it seems like the further away from God, whichever God that is for you, the further away we get from being a civilized society.

I have to admit, while I consider myself Catholic, I am far from a practicing one.  I do try to live my life as a Catholic.  I teach my children what is right and what is wrong.  Yet it feels like the further our country as a whole moves away from God, the further we move away from a civilized country.

Each piece of God that is taken out of our society leads us one step further into moral demise. No more God in school, but yet kids can pray who wins American Idol.  No more prayers in public places, yet people can protest with hatred and vulgarity against a war.  No more Christmas plays or Christmas parades, but people will crush a man to death to get a flat screen TV on sale.

What kind of memories will our children have to look back on if this trend continues?  How far back will their favorite memories be hidden?  Is it so wrong to say a little prayer to keep someone safe, or to hope that someone gets better?  Is it so wrong to hope that we are safe from harm and that our children have nothing to fear?

What is next?  Removing "In God We Trust"?  Taking the Christmas out of Christmas?  I really do fear where we are headed.  And this is coming from someone who doesn't go to Church..........but should!
