Yes, I rant!

By Lenny Moynihan

It seems the problem we have in America is this desperate need for an idol. Although both black and white communities have picked Obama as a top contender, this last week it seemed to be Michael Jackson. I am sorry that I need to point out color but it seems we are still doing that. Of course, we heard that Michael was more black than white and he really represented the black community. I think this was a similar argument with Obama. I recognize there will always be idiots in America and the world at large that are racist; thus, the fallen world we live in. Many of us have encountered some kind of prejudice some worse than others. I can say it was drilled into me by this society that I am not to see color. Was I the only one paying attention? I know I am not the only person that has lived my life this way so why can't the rest of you? To the black community and others that love to use the race card I say it is time to let the color go. We are an inflexible society that grabs onto issues and don't want to let them go.

I found out in my 20's that I am the steward of my destiny. This is not a left or right tenet, this is a life Truth. If I had personal problems and excess baggage, I would need to find the answers. If I wanted riches, I would need to work for them. If I wanted to be married with longevity, I would have to work at it. The common thread here is me working at it. I have spent a life time addressing my personal issues so I could be all that I could be. I am convicted in my beliefs and I have no need for a flesh and blood idol. I have filled my own voids because no one else can! It seemed Michael was a broken person although incredibly talented. Obama, to me, is an egomaniac. How can either of these men be an idol to fill my needs? More importantly, why are Americans so desperate for someone else to fix it for them?

I say we have lost our sense of self. The black community refuses to set aside color so every single issue must include that conflict. Obama refuses to let go of his agenda so we must watch our country's demise. The left refuses to let go of its hatred and vitriol speech so we must continue to look bad to other countries. The fundamental right clings to it's judgement; even though, Christ made it clear thou shall not judge. The white community is so busy being politically correct they have forgotten their own thoughts and feelings. In the end, none of this is working except for the government at large, or should I say as it gets larger!

We have become an insane nation and if you don't believe me turn on the news. Our government is not representing it's people. The glamour life style of pop stars and Hollywood don't represent us either. They are all thriving because of our needs for idols and the distraction of white noise. As a nation, we really need to get it together. We are 233 years old and we have become more immature not mature. The fundamental premise is the pursuit of the individual not BIG OVER GRASPING AND OVER REACHING GOVERNMENT. Instead we look to Presidents and pop stars to create our governance. This pattern is deadly. America take a good look at yourself. I ask you, do you like what you see?

The problem with your rant is that it is not based on any facts. If you review unemployment number, literacy numbers, poverty rates, and incarceration numbers - you start to see that maybe we have a problem with cultural diversity. Drill these numbers down and you start to see that this cultural diversity is especially problematic in areas that are typically Republican strongholds.

Along comes a self made man of color and suddenly there is hope that the strange hold that many of these people feel is so dominant in their lives might lessen. In short, before you cast dispersions or reverse racism rhetoric, you need to walk their proverbial mile in a colored person's shoes.

As a side note, did you happen to see who got elected as the president of the Young Republicans this last week? That's right, a blatant racist 38 year old woman. Combine the belief that the Republican core are racist with census numbers and you start to see the future of the current Republican party, or more importantly the lack of a future.

As a counter rant, I would suggest that the white Republicans get a freaking grip and pull their proverbial heads out of their nether region. They have been crying so much it is starting to make me ill. You lost one election to a man who happens to be colored. GET OVER IT! If you think his agenda is destroying this nation, you haven't been paying attention to the Republican agenda. Big government and deficit spending is the bread and butter of the Republican party, and all rhetoric to the contrary is a bunch of BS. You can argue scale, but even that argument holds very little water.

In conclusion, the Republican party has had ample opportunities to provide good governance, and while you are busy casting hateful rhetoric at our new commander in chief, you continue to give them a free pass on some pretty awful behavior. If the Republican party is the party of Christ, family values, fiscal responsibility and small government, how about you actually hold your elected officials to these standards? Nope, you want to ignore that and cry that the other party which has different priorities isn't following your mantra.....

And for goodness sake, quit idolizing the stupid white trailer trash crowd.
Peace.

Rick, first off he is no self made man. Obama doesn't impress. He is no worker and has a pitiful voting record. Nothing to boast about in his life actually. He should have never been elected as President. I blame Americans for being lead instead of doing their job and investigating him.

His color has never played a role in my view of him nor has it millions of other Americans. This idea that only whites can be racist is far reaching at this juncture in time. Every ethnic group is known to have racists including the black community!

My rant is more about taking responsibility. Americans have forgotten how to do that and Obama and his cabinet hopes that continues. A true leader does not salavate for power but wants the people to be strong, successful and sufficient. Not this President. He wants us to need government as he gains more power.

Your stats about the black community are correct. But Rick, there comes a point when you can't point the finger towards anyone else but yourself. This community has to look at itself now for the stats you profess. They are responsible for their own lack of education, crime in their streets, fatherless children and prison records. Like I said, Obama wants to keep these numbers high and the class war fare going. It is through fear and conflict he can reign supreme.

I was not touting Republicans. I am dismayed with this party. It seems to have sold out for the same pork and ego driven mania as the left. The system is broken and most of those in office need to go! This is no longer right or left but the salvation of our country. We must unite as Americans and protect our country from its abysmal demise by men that have no regard for its people or their service. WE must take responsibility for ourselves and quit waiting for the promised
free ride by Obama.

Couldn't agree more.

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."

Guess who said that? President Barack Obama. We aren't as far apart as you would think....

Now if only I could find a quote that says something to the effect of term limits and substantial penalties for violating voters' trust. I don't presume to imply that the President has done this, but people like Blago need to be sent to the gallows imho.

Peace.

Lenny,

I came across this today and thought I would add it for the chuckle. Come on, it truly is a face palm moment.

It's okay to laugh, I won't tell.

Rick you are not paying attention to what is happening if you really think Obama is the change this country wants. He is close to a dictator we have ever had. He is doing things unconstitutionaly and taking away your freedoms as we speak. You really need to wake up! You seem to still be in the fog of left and right. This is not a left or right issue but the saving of our country which by the way is the best country ever!

Lenny,

Okay, I will bite, what exactly has Obama done to you that restricts your "freedoms"? You guys on the right are so full of bs it isn't even funny. Dictator? You folks wouldn't know a dictactorship, a socialist or even a communist state if it jumped up and bit you. Sorry Lenny, but you and your right wing friends have lost your bloody minds. Not the other way around.
