Nancy Pelosi President? Harry Reid VP?
"I'm trying to save the planet." Pelosi stated. "When you win the election, you win the majority, and what is the power of the Speaker? To set the agenda, the power of recognition, and I am not giving the gavel away to anyone."This would be the temper tantrum I mentioned in full banging her gavel-mode. She is more about holding on to her "power and recognition" than she is to solving the crisis America faces. The only statement worse than this one on the condition of our dependence on oil is the one that Harry Reid recently made.
He states "Coal makes us sick, oil makes us sick, it's ruining our country, it's ruining our world."I hereby nominate Nancy Pelosi for President and Harry Reid for VP. Of course, we have to have the woman on top of the ticket, it's only fair. I think they could absolutely save our country from the dependence on foreign oil, rising gas prices, taxes, lowering spending, saving social security, and everything else that is dragging on our country right now. I mean so what if they are the leaders of Congress with the lowest approval ratings in history. They will save the day. They tell us they are protecting us.

Obama Disses The Troops.....Again!
After spending the morning working out in the hotel gym and preparing for his "historic" yawn of a speech, Barack Obama decided that visiting wounded troops at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center was not a "priority".
His campaign initially stated that during long campaign trips sometimes you have to shift priorities. Really. Apparently our wounded soldiers are not a priority to him. Obviously, that didn't sit well with a lot of people. His campaign then stated that he did not feel it was appropriate to visit the servicemen and women during a campaign-funded event.
Unbelievable. He was able to visit the troops in Iraq. He was able to visit the troops in Afghanistan. Well not exactly. According to several soldiers at the base in Afghanistan, Obama met with a few top military personnel. He walked past a line of soldiers waiting to speak to him, but he did not take the time. He then went to the gym for his photo-op playing basketball and then left.
I have said it in several of my blogs, but this is scary. How can you be Commander-In-Chief if you do not listen to the advice of top generals and you don't have the time to meet with our troops?
Mr. Obama, you should be ashamed of yourself. These men and women are risking their lives to give you the opportunity to fly around the world. These men and women were successful during the surge in Iraq and yet you cannot admit that they, and they alone, were the ones to stabilize Iraq. It is truly apparent what kind of leader Barack Obama would make.
If you don't know Barack Obama's feelings and stance on our troops, do some research..........it's time to get smart.
"Sen. Obama is welcome to visit Landstuhl or any military
hospital in his official capacity as a United States senator," Morrell said in a
brief interview. "But there is a DOD policy which governs campaigning and
electioneering at military facilities that would have to be respected if he were
to visit. That distinction was relayed and made clear to campaign, and they made
a decision on their own based on that guidance."He went on to say the following about the campaign's decision:
"We made it clear to him that campaign staff and press would not be permitted to
accompany him," Morrell said of Obama. "We relayed those ground
rules. They made a choice based upon the information we relayed to them.
It was their choice. We had nothing to do with it."

10 Questions Barack Obama Will Never Be Asked
- While in the Illinois Senate you voted "present" 130 times, why did you choose not to take a stand on such issues as gun-control, gay rights, and abortion?
- How do you intend to pay for your proposed $660 billion dollars worth of additional spending without raising taxes on the middle class and small business owners?
- Why would you write an article about what you are going to do in Iraq one week before actually visiting Iraq and meeting with top generals on the ground?
- Are you shifting your positions to the middle to get independent votes while playing "wink-wink" with the ACLU and other leftist groups?
- Why do you refuse to debate Senator McCain in a town-hall meeting?
- Why do you support equal pay for women and then pay your female staff members on average $7000.00 less than their male counterparts?
- Do you believe that 71% of the American people are wrong for wanting to drill here in the US?
- Why do you feel that illegal aliens have a right to tax-payer funded health care?
- Why do you support infanticide?
- Why did you recently replace the American flag on your campaign airplane with your own Obama campaign symbol?

Nancy Pelosi's Temper Tantrum
Nancy Pelosi, along with Harry Reid, have made energy independence their number one priority. When I say number one priority, I mean ensuring that energy independence never happens in the United States of America. With gas prices rising above $4, the American people, including those in California, are fed up with the lack of leadership that Nancy Pelosi is administering in the Senate. She and Harry Reid have all but shut down the government in fear that the Republican party will attach an energy amendment to anything.
When a party leader puts their personal opinions and beliefs before those of the American people, it is time for them to vote her out. She at this point is so against any type of energy resolution that she is taking a stand at the detriment of her own party members. Recently congressional approval ratings fell to historic lows. According to a few polls, as low as 9%. At what point does congress think that the American people are going to take their frustrations out with their votes?
If I were a newly elected blue-dog Democrat, I would be feeling more than a little heat right now. Even though I do not support most Democrats, I do feel sorry for them a this point. They do not have enough power to do much of anything right now with their supreme leader taking them down with her. She is not listening to those in her party, she is not listening to the people of California, and she is not listening to the American people. I'm beginning to think that the only voice other than her own that she hears is that of the Environmentalists.
If Nancy Pelosi won't start to listen, then it is time we make her listen. Her temper tantrum is equivalent to a school bully beating up kids on the playground. The one thing she needs to remember is that if you beat up on millions of people, someone is bound to return the favor one day. Most likely with a vote of see you later, don't let the door hit you in the ....you know what I mean.
Couric, Williams, Gibson High on Obama Kool-Aide
Historic visit? Do you remember the visits of past Presidential candidates who visited Europe or anywhere else for that matter? It was quite evident during the primary season that major networks were anti-Hillary. They practically handed the nomination to Obama. It wasn't until they were ridiculed by Saturday Night Live that some news organizations finally gave Hillary a break. Unfortunately, it was too late for her.
Now, again, the MSM (main-stream media) is trying to hand Obama another piece of the pie. When John McCain recently made visits to Columbia and Mexico were these anchors there clinging to his coat tails? How stupid do these people think the American people are? If this doesn't rally the Republican party, conservatives, independent thinking people, and yes, even Hillary Clinton supporters to support John McCain, I don't know what will.
Mr. Obama cannot buy this election. The media cannot give Barack Obama this election. This election will be decided by and for the American people. So Mrs. Couric, Mr. Williams, and Mr. Gibson enjoy your vacation in Europe. Your viewership is on the decline and blatant partisan-support such as this will only continue to drive the masses away from your networks. Thank you NBC, ABC, and CBS for my renewed drive to see that Barack Obama is not put into our highest office.

Failed Energy Policy
How did we get here...to this time and place where we allow our national security, our economy, and our livelihood to be controlled and dictated by our enemies. Why has congress still not acted on the one thing affecting every person in this country? Are we truly so divided that we would allow this great nation to suffer for the success of one party over another?
One of the people who I have recently debated on a few blogs asked me what Melissa Hart, my previous House representative, and George Bush had done over the seven years she was in the House to tackle the energy crisis. I have to thank Mike because it made me invest even more time researching this issue and here is what I found.
In 1996, President Clinton vetoed a bill that was passed by the House and the Senate to begin drilling in ANWR.
In 2001, just after 9/11, President Bush pushed his energy agenda. At that time, the House was led by the Republican party, but the Senate was still controlled by the Democrats. The House passed a bill that would have allowed drilling in ANWR, as well as increased nuclear power, and put additional money towards alternative energy. The Senate shot down this bill. A similar bill was also shot down by the Senate in 2002 and 2003.
In 2004, the Republican party took over the Senate. Surely they did something at this point to solve our energy crisis. Again the House pushed through an energy bill. This time, the Democrats led by Senate Schumer of New York led a filibuster which kept the bill from coming up for a vote. They wouldn't even allow a vote. This filibuster continued and in two years the bill was never voted on.
In 2006, the Democrats took over both the House and the Senate. After two years in power, we have a real energy crisis that is now affecting our economy and our daily lives. I understand the knee jerk reaction of some to blame the President for the economy and the situation we find ourselves in today, but if you look back over the last twelve years, there is only one party that has held us hostage..................and it's not the Republicans.
Over 80% of Americans today say that gas prices are affecting their lives. Over 71% of Americans are for drilling in the OCS and almost as many are for drilling in ANWR. Apparently while Congress was on vacation, they heard an earful from their constituents. There are four months until the elections, take a look at who will do something about real energy independence and who will keep talking about energy independence.

Obama Ignores 44 Million Americans
A military coalition consisting of American Veterans, American Disabled Veterans, Veterans for Common Sense, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and Military Spouse Corporate Career Network have invited both presidential candidates to a town hall meeting in Texas. The event was originally set for August 11. Senator McCain has accepted the offer, but Senator Obama has stated he has prior engagements. The coalition asked Senator Obama for alternative dates, but he has still refused to accept the invitation.
This coalition is not a group of John McCain supporters. There are democrats and republicans, active military and veterans. They are directly impacted by the decisions that both of these candidates could make. Why would one not meet and discuss issues that directly affect so many Americans?
The number one issue is that Senator Obama is not as well suited to the town hall setting as he is to a scripted telepromted speech. Again, how can we elect a president, a commander-in-chief, who does not take the time to talk to the military? He has yet to talk to top commanders in the field as well. How do you say you will immediately begin to pull troops out of Iraq without a discussion with the military?
Instead of Senator Obama listening to the left-wing groups like Code-Pink, maybe it is time that he began to listen to those who have actually fought these wars, to those who are still fighting these wars, and to those who he could, possibly, send into war one day himself.

How McCain's VP Pick Could Redefine His Campaign?
What will it take to excite this base? An olive branch to say the least. There have been baby steps along the way as we knew there would be, but what about one giant step? Here it is..................John McCain picks Governor Sarah Palin for Vice-President of the United States. Most people who don't normally follow politics too closely are probably saying who right about now. I said the same thing a few months ago.
First, some background. Sarah Palin, 44, was elected Governor of Alaska in November 2006. She has been a fighter of corruption in Alaska since her early political days. Alaska is probably second only to Louisiana for corruption in politics. She is a true reformer in every sense of the word. She is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-marriage, and a fiscal conservative. She has been to Iraq, unlike Barack Obama, and has a son who enlisted in the army on September 11, 2007. She has the highest approval rating in the country which is more than we can say about Congress. She would definitely be the branch that Conservatives are looking for.
But hold that thought. Even conservatives know that it will take more than us to elect John McCain. Here's where Sarah Palin would be a better choice than someone like a Mike Huckabee. She is from Alaska. She has experience dealing with the oil and gas companies. She is currently in the process of pushing forward a new gas line lease that would move gas from the Northern Slope to the lower 48. (Apparently that's what they call the rest of us up there). She is for drilling in ANWR and could yank on John McCain's ear until he was persuaded to change his position. She could speak to McCain's energy policy with authority. It would be difficult to challenge her knowledge on the subject. She could be a voice to the number one topic America is dealing with now.
Finally, she could attract another block of voters. WOMEN. There are still millions of angry Hillary Clinton supporters out there who would love one more excuse to vote against Barack Obama and here it is. The democrats have frustrated many women with their tactics from the primary season and this is our chance to show them that the Republican party is an inclusive party. Yes, there are issues that we will disagree on, but no party is perfect.
She would bring the energy, enthusiasm, and most likely the money to a campaign that at this point could use a shot in the arm. The buzz is already spinning out there about her and it only grows as she makes the media rounds in support of drilling in ANWR.
As a young female conservative, I would like to see the next generation of our party brought to the forefront. It might surprise most people to see exactly how diverse we are. The first step is for the party of the good 'ole boys to put forth their brightest and strongest candidate.....and well, if she happens to be a woman more power to us.
If you haven't heard of Governor Sarah Palin yet, visit palinforvp.blogspot.com for every detail you need to know about her and more. It's time to get smart......... about Sarah Palin.

Flip Flops Are For The Beach......
Yes, I know that politicians tend to tweak their positions from the primary season to the general election. However, this year can be officially declared "The Year of the Flip Flop." Yes, I know Senator McCain has changed his stance on a few issues too. But you have come to a conservative blog and therefore you knew what you were getting yourself into.
Let's first start with a few of the flip flops that should make every Hillary Clinton supporter pissed. In the primary season, Senator Obama stated that he would immediately begin pulling troops out of Iraq. He said that he would end the war within a year of coming into office. Some could argue that this was one of the key issues that led him to defeat Senator Clinton. Senator McCain has always stated that he would meet with the generals on the ground to determine a course of action. This was widely criticized by Senator Obama.
However, on Thursday, Senator Obama said that his upcoming trip to Iraq may lead him to "refine" his promise to quickly remove US troops. Let's not start the argument that Senator Obama has yet to go to Iraq in over two years or meet with General Petraeus. I will stick to the fact that he now agrees with Senator McCain that military leaders will determine the time of withdrawal. Or does he? It seems to me that someone who has to have a press conference to explain a press conference doesn't know what he means. Senator Obama has spent most of the weekend continuing to explain that he meant what he said he always meant. Does anyone follow? I think that he "doesth protest too much." I'm sure those at the anti-war group Code Pink are loving him right about now.
The second major flip or flop, came in the form of FISA (the foreign intelligence surveillance act). This act allows the government to eavesdrop on known terrorists abroad who make calls to the US. This act would make protection retroactive for those companies who aide the government with this eavesdropping. On January 28, Senator Obama issued this statement:
"I strongly oppose retroactive immunity in the FISANow I normally wouldn't put such boring information on my blog, but it actually seemed that he made this statement with conviction. I really believe that he meant what he said. Well so did his supporters and now they apparently don't know what to believe about him. As of today, Senator Obama now supports a FISA compromise that will allow immunity to those who assist the government.
bill. Ever since 9/11, this Administration has put forward a false choice
between the liberties we cherish and the security we
demand.
The FISA court works. The separation of power works. We
can trace, track down and take out terrorists while ensuring that our actions
are subject to vigorous oversight, and do not undermine the very laws and
freedom that we are fighting to defend.
No one should get a free pass to violate the basic civil
liberties of the American people - not the President of the United States, and
not the telecommunications companies that fell in line with his warrantless
surveillance program. We have to make clear the lines that cannot be
crossed.
That is why I am co-sponsoring Senator Dodd's amendment to
remove the immunity provision. Secrecy must not trump accountability. We must
show our citizens – and set an example to the world – that laws cannot be
ignored when it is inconvenient.
A grassroots movement of Americans has pushed this issue
to the forefront. You have come together across this country. You have called
upon our leaders to adhere to the Constitution. You have sent a message to the
halls of power that the American people will not permit the abuse of power – and
demanded that we reclaim our core values by restoring the rule of
law.
It's time for Washington to hear your voices, and to act.
I share your commitment to this cause, and will stand with you in the fights to
come. And when I am President, the American people will once again be able to
trust that their government will stand for justice, and will defend the
liberties that we hold so dear as vigorously as we defend our
security."
It is sad that this man who symbolizes "change" to so many has now become the "typical" politician. The fact that he heard the voices of those who support him and threw them out the window should speak volumes about his character. Yes, as I said, all politicians tweak their campaigns. The fact that Senator Obama has on these issues and soooooo many more is nothing new. What is new is that someone who thought he could run on change and change alone has found himself the one doing the changing.
You know, the more you wear your flip flops on the beach, the more the sand starts to annoy you. If you aren't aware of all of Senator Obama's flip flops, Google his name and the words flip flop. It's time to get educated on this issue..................it's time to get smart.

Vacation! What Vacation????
But for average Americans this holiday will most likely be spent closer to home. The days of the teenagers "cruising" is long gone. Going to the beach for the weekend....gone. How high will gas prices go? At this rate we could see gas hit $8.00 this year or more. What kind of economic woes will we continue to see without some type of resolution?
Congress has the ability to help it's people, but chooses not to do anything in order to win an election. In the last few weeks, Congress could have passed a bill to remove the ban on drilling off of our coasts. They could have begun eliminating obstacles to building new nuclear plants. They could have promoted the expansion of the clean coal process. They could have allowed us to begin drilling for more natural gas. They could have lifted the ban on ANWR. They could have passed a bill to incentivize the expansion of renewable energy sources. They could have lowered the price of the gas in your tank. If Congress would take ANY of these steps, the price of gas would go down. What did they do? Nothing, nada, zilch, zip, zero.
Instead they tell you that these steps would only lower the price a few cents. At this point, lowering it a few cents would be better than allowing it to go up. They tell you to blame big oil and those evil speculators. They tell you it will take years to get any oil from new homeland sources. I don't know, but years sounds better than never to me. It is time for the American people to tell Congress a thing or two.
It is our right and our duty to question our leaders. (or so those on the left keep telling us) We must begin to hold our Congressman and Senators accountable for inaction. So I will start here and now. My Congressman is Jason Altmire. I will be writing and calling Mr. Altmire's office when he returns from vacation. What is he doing to help the people in his district lower their energy costs? When will he support the drill here, drill now campaign? When will he vote to lift the ban on ANWR? Where did he go for vacation?
Where does your representation stand on these issues? If you don't know.........it' time to get smart!
