American Heroes: In The Fight Against Radical Islam

By Lt. Colonel Oliver North, USMC

The following story is an excerpt from Lt. Col. Oliver North's new release,
American Heroes: In the Fight Against Radical Islam.

"The explosion of a carefully planted IED mangled Sgt Edwards below his body armor. The first person to him was U.S. Navy medical Corpsman Christopher Anderson. The man they called "Doc" Anderson immediately applied tourniquets to Edwards' shattered limbs and started an IV to ward off shock.

As they raced for the LZZ to meet an inbound casualty-evacuation helicopter, Edwards looked up at the man who was checking his pulse and said, 'take care of my babies, Doc.'

Anderson shouted back, 'You're going to take care of your babies. You're going to be OK!'

Marine Sgt Gregory Edwards was on his third deployment to Iraq when new wounds sent him back to Walter Reed. In 2003 he had been part of the initial assault on Baghdad and saw the statue of Saddam Hussein toppled. He'd been wounded on his second deployment and spent time recovering at Bethesda and Walter Reed. When 1st Bn, 6th Marines, was slated for a third deployment, he insisted on going along.

This time, however Gregory Edwards' road to recovery would never end. Though the doctors operated on him more than thirty times, they couldn't save his shattered legs. When all the surgery was done, he had one stump above the knee, a stump below the other knee, and only one functioning hand.

'I lost my legs for the people of Iraq, so their children will be able to run around, just like mine. If time was turned back, I'd do it all over again," said Sgt Edwards, father of two."

This excerpt, taken from American Heroes, is dedicated to the hundreds of thousands of fathers who are standing on the front lines of war while their families anxiously await their return home.

"These 'heroes on the home front' are essential for the strength of our military as a whole and for the defense of this nation," said Lt. Col. North.

To celebrate Father's Day and honor the tremendous sacrifice made by so many fathers since the beginning of the war on terror, Lt. Col. North has made signed copies of his book available on his website, http://www.olivernorth.com/, throughout the month of June.

With more than 350 full-color images and exclusive access to even more stories from inside the trenches online, American Heroes presents a no-holds-barred, up-close look at this generation's citizen soldiers who have chosen the path of the patriot to go into harm's way.

Did you realize the CIA created Al Qaeda?? Did you realize that this is all a con??

It's propaganda. It's strange, because honest ppl hear one story that is designed to create a certain response (framed by govt)... and we naturally believe and respond according to their control grid. That's how propaganda works.

But we don't think our govt propagandizes us. We think that happens in other countries - but our nation is too good, pure, and honorable to propagandize us.

Here's some info... that ppl won't tell you (and the govt doesn't want you to know - lest the carefully crafted illusion be broken).

"The myth of "al Qaida" is built on an expansive foundation of many half-truths and hidden facts. It is a CIA creation. It was shaped by the agency to serve as a substitute "enemy" for America, replacing the Soviets whom the Islamist forces had driven from Afghanistan. Unknown American officials, at an indeterminate point in time, made the decision to fabricate the tale of a mythical worldwide network of Islamic terrorists from the exploits of the Afghan Mujahedeen. The CIA already had their own network of Islamic militant "freedom fighters," all that was needed were a few scattered terrorist attacks against US targets and a credible heroic figurehead, to serve as the "great leader."

The really tricky part of creating a mythical terrorist monster out of an incomplete truth is laying-out the facts behind your mythical story without revealing the whole truth about your part in its creation. In order to explain away the billions of dollars worth of weapons and training that went into the operation, they chose a rich jihadi, a Saudi millionaire named Osama bin Laden, who had been a faithful recruiter and business agent of the Mujahedeen. He was painted as the sole financier of the entire enormous operation that was centered in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Bin Laden may not even have known that he was playing a part in a deceitful CIA global drama until after the fact. It is more likely that his history was chosen many years later to serve as the legacy of "al Qaida," than it is that he was a brainwashed tool of the spy agency all along."

(The rabbit hole gets deeper. The Government is lying to you... check it out.)

But, meanwhile, the fascist state is being built in the US - the gravest danger, imo, we face. It's through fear of terrorism they get us to "go along".

Grace.

Someone explain to me why this man lost his limbs in this war? Other than providing billions of dollars for their war buddies, what on earth is the point of this war?

As a veteran, I seriously question the leadership that allows these tragedies to continue. There is no justification for going to war out of greed. Cheney should be tried and hung.

This makes me sad and angry. My heart to all of those serving, may you find your way safely home.

Peace.

Exterminating fanatical muslims is something that we are going to have to do, if not it will eventually ruin the America we know due to PC politics.

What I hate is people who use this war for a political soapbox. Would you rather have our troops fight these murders on their own soil (mid east) or in your back yard?

Instead of using your malice to be against the war for some political belief and focus that malice against the enemy that is hurting, maiming, killing our soldiers? Sorry sacrifices are going to have to be made, and that is the sole purpose we have a military that fights for what we all cherish.

And to Laura Lee, where do you get this information from? What backs your story? We did not assist and create Al Qaeda, but we did assist the Afghani people during the time the Russians invaded their country, who were our enemies at the time. You heard the saying "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". Same thing. Plus as you know if you read history, that things change for the best or worse. We fought against Britain, but now we are allies, Germany, etc. We didn't create the evil we are fighting today. It was the mindset of these people we are fighting today that make them believe they are doing something as given to them by their god; when you fight a religious zealot with nothing to lose, that pretty much makes them an enemy hard to beat. With us tying our hands with BS laws and PC agendas we pretty much hurt ourselves.
